10 Stupid Ways to Mess Up Your Dog
- 1. Owner fails to provide sufficient socialization with people (of all kinds... 4-16 wks).
2. Owner fails to provide sufficient socialization with dogs (litter throughout adulthood).
3. Owner fails to take advantage of opportunities for learning (eg. teach recall while dog still
follows naturally, under 4 months).
4. Owner fails to provide for the dog's natural behaviors (eg. chewing).
5. Owner fails to bond with the puppy through play.
6. Owner fails to handle or touch the puppy sufficiently.
7. Owner encourages food guarding through benign neglect (fails to take active steps to prevent it).
8. Owner fails to use the right balance of discipline.
9. Owner fails to provide the puppy with sufficient exercise.
10. Owner provides the puppy with too much free food.
