It is always such an honor to be able to raise these babies and to hand them over to families. Over the years we have made many close friends who I actually dare refer to as family because of our bond over this beautiful breed. Today is the same with many of you. Puppies have been photographed weekly in the same order from left to right. Pink Girl, Lavender Girl, Yellow Girl, Green Girl, Teal Girl, Red Boy.

Glitch's puppies have grown so much over the past six weeks! It is hard to believe all of the social and developmental changes that have taken place. They absolutely love playing in the grass and killing their stuffed dragons!

The puppies received their first puppy booster this week, had their nails trimmed, got baths and played in the rain. We go to the vet this upcoming week for our final checkup. Puppy assignments will be announced next Sunday evening.

The puppies have grown so big, they are completely trained to their potty station but prefer to go outside to potty on the grass. We have started taking regular field trips outside to play and explore. The puppies are eating the PawTree Turkey & Sweet Potato and nursing much less often.

Glitch's puppies are 28 days old and bright eyed. They are starting to really become inquisitive about the space beyond their Glitch and where they sleep. The puppies are really enchanted by Glitch's milk. They have absolutely no interest in anything but the milkbar and then taking a nap.

Glitch's babies are so snoozy... they must be growing. This stage of development is actually known as rapid development. Because they grow so fast during this stage the puppies do sleep more than normal. Did you know that puppies already sleep 90% of the day?! That sounds like a lot but growing takes a lot of energy.

Glitch's babies are bright-eyed and content at 16 days old. This week we have continued handling babies every day and performing our early neurological stimulation exercises. This helps build really resilient dogs. We have introduced them to a potty station and they are getting the hang of it!

Glitch is really a happy momma and doing a great job!

Glitch's puppies are nine days old. Did you know that dogs are an altricial species they are born before they are fully developed in contrast to precocial species who can stand and walk around within hours of birth?

Apart from not being able to stand puppies are not yet fully developed. Their eyes and ears are sealed shut to protect them while they continue to develop. It will take a puppy months of development to achieve what other mammals can do shortly after birth.

There is a huge social aspect to this. Precocial species are able to wander off and get lost moments after birth. It is for their protection that they imprint and bond with their mother and distrust and fear everything else. In contrast, altricial species cannot wander off for weeks or even months after birth so they will always be under the protection of their mother. They have a long and flexible social period. It is because of this that humans and dogs are able to bond so closely.
