You guys.. are you ready? Because they are so ready!
Rebel and Lady's puppies have spent their past week building endurance! They love to play and as soon as we get outside all bets are off that I am going to be able to photograph them and get a good shot. These two photos alone took three hours, mainly because the puppies wanted to play and the sun kept coming out and ruining our shots.
The puppies are doing a great job sleeping in their crates! They are little troopers and go right to sleep. They got the first round of their puppy boosters this week. They have appointments with the vet next week and then the big day of evaluations and assignments will happen. Check back on Facebook and our website for assignments next Sunday.
This week your goals are to:
☑ Finish shopping
☑ Order pawTree
☑ Signup for Baxter & Bella (Use Code NOBLE for 20% off)

Taking photos of large groups has always been hard. It is even harder when the group wants to run in different directions!
Lady's puppies are into having fun, they love to run and roll in the grass. Keeping them dry for their photos when all they wanted to do was to roll in the dew-covered grass was fun.
Their favorite thing right now is to play king of the slide.
Lady and Reble's puppies have been moved to a large play area with slides, wobble boards, and various other challenge toys that we change out throughout the day. These challenge toys help them navigate uneven, or moving surfaces. As they master these challenge toys they become more confident!
They are sleeping in their crates of a night which helps with our morning chores but also makes their transition to your home much easier. You're welcome xo.

Taking photos of these large groups is hard...shew...
Lady's babies are four weeks old. They eat with a vengeance! We are going outside to explore a few times a day. It is a chore to keep them all together, they all just want to run in different directions like spider monkeys! They have moved into a larger play area and are starting to show more interest in toys.

You guys are seriously lucky to be getting a photo update of Lady & Odin's babies this week. It took three humans to rock them to sleep and keep them settled while we got all 10 settled in.
Lady's babies are three weeks old, they are toddling around, and learning how to use their little legs. They have found and are using their potty station which is a blessing and will help not only keep their area clean but will aid in potty training as they mature.
Look at those faces and how content they are snuggling here.

The puppies' eyes have just opened but they still do not have full vision and won't even at 8 weeks of age.  They can tell by smell if I or someone else has walked into the room.  They are moving on their own and actually standing up and taking a few steps. This week the puppies have continued to be handled daily and received Bio-Senor feedback which helps them build healthy immune systems, improved cardiovascular performance, stronger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress, and greater resistance to disease. The U.S. Military in their canine program developed a method that still serves as a guide to what works. In an effort to improve the performance of dogs used for military purposes, a program called "Bio Sensor" was developed. Later, it became known to the public as the "Super Dog" Program. Based on years of research, the military learned that early neurological stimulation exercises could have important and lasting effects. Their studies confirmed that there are specific time periods early in life when neurological stimulation has optimum results. The first period involves a window of time that begins on the third day of life and lasts until the sixteenth day. It is believed that because this interval of time is a period of rapid neurological growth and development, and therefore is of great importance to the individual.

The "Bio Sensor" program was also concerned with early neurological stimulation in order to give the dog a superior advantage. Its development utilized six exercises, which were designed to stimulate the neurological system. Each workout involved handling puppies once each day. The workouts required handling them one at a time while performing a series of five exercises. Listed in nor order of preference the handler starts with one put and stimulates it using each of the five exercises. The handler completes the series from beginning to end before starting with the next pup. The handling of each pup once per day involves the following exercises:

1. Tactile stimulation - Holding the pup in one hand, the handler gently stimulates (tickles) the pup between the toes on any one foot using a Q-tip. It is not necessary to see that the pup is feeling the tickle. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds.

2. Head held erect - Using both hands, the pup is held perpendicular to the ground, (straight up), so that its head is directly above its tail. This is an upwards position. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds

3. Head pointed down - Holding the pup firmly with both hands the head is reversed and is pointed downward so that it is pointing towards the ground. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds

4. Supine position - Hold the pup so that its back is resting in the palm of both hands with its muzzle facing the ceiling. The pup while on its back is allowed to sleep struggle. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.

5. Thermal stimulation - Use a damp towel that has been cooled in a refrigerator for at least five minutes. Place the pup on the towel, feet down. Do not restrain it from moving. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.

At one week of age Lady's babies have no complaints in life. They are so fat and content with life. This week we trimmed their nails and their collars had to be adjusted too. They have doubled in size already! Little dough balls.
Lady is a great momma, she has kept her babies well-fed, warm and clean. Happy momma = happy babies.

Did you know that dogs are an altricial species they are born before they are fully developed in contrast to precocial species who can stand and walk around within hours of birth?

Apart from not being able to stand puppies are not yet fully developed. Their eyes and ears are sealed shut to protect them while they continue to develop. It will take a puppy months of development to achieve what other mammals can do shortly after birth.

There is a huge social aspect to this. Precocial species are able to wander off and get lost moments after birth. It is for their protection that they imprint and bond with their mother and distrust and fear everything else. In contrast, altricial species cannot wonder off for weeks or even months after birth so they will always be under the protection of their mother. They have a long and flexible social period. It is because of this that humans and dogs are able to bond so closely.
